It was at Wohner's Neighborhood Grocery, the longtime Omaha
tradition and favorite of Diana Vogt. I had not had dinner, so I
basically bought stuff that I wanted to eat and share. On the way
to the deli table area, I picked up strawberries, raspberries, and
two kinds of spiced pistachios (Curry Mango and Smoked). I later
added Jisa cheese, crackers, and people picked up sodas, coffee,
and Ron asked and discovered that yes, you could indeed buy a nice
microbrew six-pack (Schmalz Brewing) and have a bottle within the
store. This is fabulous, this solves the food and beer pairing
issue pretty nicely. Ron thanked me for suggesting pairing it
with the cheese and the sesame seed crackers.
The conversation started and went continuously until the store
closed. Lloyd's sister Nancy was our "guest" for the day. She
was a charm...staying involved conversationally the whole time
It was really cool having a bunch of snack items to share and
pass around. The store was understaffed, but they were still very
helpful in supplying us with paper plates and plasticware when we
could chase them down. I'm looking forward to returning to
Wohner's again for Mensa and other social events. Three hours of
free parking at the Wolhners lot!
There should be a picture with all of our snackage (or I might
have to upload it to the Lincoln group's Files area).
